Welcome!

My name is Mrs. Sengupta, and I am proud to serve as both an Interventionist and 5th Grade Science Teacher at the Dashwood Campus. I have been teaching for over 10 years and every year reminds me why I chose this profession—my students’ curiosity, energy, and growth inspire me daily.

About Me:

I began my teaching journey with a deep love for education and a strong desire to help young learners discover how the world works. I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, which I use to bring real-world connections into our science classroom and to foster a sense of responsibility for our planet.

I am EC–6 Generalist certified, which means I am trained to support the academic and social-emotional needs of elementary students across all core content areas. As an interventionist, I also work alongside teachers to plan engaging lessons, analyze student data, and support best practices in instruction.

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that every child can learn and deserves a classroom where they feel safe, respected, and challenged. In my classroom, students are:

  • Encouraged to explore, experiment, and “learn by doing”

  • Supported in working together, sharing ideas, and speaking up

  • Reminded that mistakes are a natural and important part of learning

My goal is to help students become independent thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners.

My Roles on Campus:

Interventionist:

  • Collaborate with teachers to design TEKS-aligned lessons

  • Support data-driven instruction and small-group planning

  • Model effective instructional strategies in classrooms

  • Help build a positive culture of collaboration and continuous growth

5th Grade Science Teacher:

  • Make science hands-on, engaging, and fun

  • Connect science concepts to everyday life and real-world problems

  • Encourage students to ask questions, investigate, and think critically

  • Prepare students for middle school science and beyond

A Little About My Family:

Outside of school, I’m a wife and mom. My family includes my husband and our son, who keep me laughing, learning, and busy! We enjoy spending time together, exploring nature, reading, and trying new recipes. The joy and love I have at home remind me every day how important it is to care for each child as someone’s whole world.

Certifications:

• Texas EC-6 Generalist Certification

• ESL (English as a Second Language) Certification

• TEA Reading Academy (K-5 Cohort)
